Change Windows Media Player Update Check Schedule

The Windows Media Player Update Check is a way of Windows Media Player running a analysis to verify that your Windows XP or Vista machine has the latest version of Windows Media Player on it, it is run on a schedule which by default is every week.

But it is possible to change that to more frequent or less, this is especially helpful to those who may have a slow connection or those who want to be updating as soon as they can to the brand spanking new Windows Media Player.

To do this simply:

  • Click "Tools"
  • Then click "Options"
  • Choose the "Player" Tab
  • Under Automatic Updates you can choose which frequency Windows Media Player will check for updates, it can either be:

  • Once a day
  • Once a Week
  • Once a Month
