How DVI to HDMI Cables Work

Although many digital televisions are equipped with both a HDMI and DVI input, there are still some high definition devices which require DVI to HDMI cables to output a high definition signal.

What are DVI to HDMI Cables

DVI to HDMI cables solve a common problem that many have when trying to connect a device such as a computer to the TV.

The DVI cable converts the video signal from your high definition device such as a Blu Ray player, connects via an adaptor to your HDMI cable which is plugged directly into TV.

One thing to note is that the image quality won't be as high as a direct HDMI to HDMI connection because the signal outputted isn't being relayed through the same output (i.e HDMI) at both ends of the connection.

Also, DVI connection doesn't support HD audio from Blu Ray DVD discs.

Here are two places I would recommend you submit queries about your DVI to HDMI adapter or high definition devices:

  • High Def Forum - A great community of high definition fans who are always very helpful.
  • Windows Community - This is the official forum for Microsoft products. Plenty of helpful Windows Media MVP's (people formally recognized by Microsoft for their contributions to Windows) on hand to help.
  • Recommended Places To Buy DVI To HDMI Converters

  • Amazon - This is the first place I go for my electrical needs. Be sure to check their Daily deals section, I have picked up a few bargains through that section.
