Another Method to download the latest version of Windows Media Player is to use the current version of Windows Media Player that is on your system, whichever version you have the process tends to be the same, simply:

  • Go to Tools

  • Then mouseover "Help" and select "Check for updates"

  • Windows Media Player will now contact the Microsoft server to find if there is a new version of Windows Media Player, if there isn't it will simply display the message:

    "Your computer is running the most recent version of Windows Media Player and all of its components. No Update is available at this time"

  • If there is one, it will give you a link to the Windows Media Site, where you download it

    • If you want to check what version you are currently running press "Help" and then click "About Windows Media Player", the latest version currently available is Windows Media Player 11.
